Enrolments of LBOTE government school students by largest language groups (2017-2019)

This dataset captures the diversity of students with a language background other than English (LBOTE) who are enrolled in NSW government schools.

Data Notes:

• LBOTE and total (headcount) enrolment figures are collected in March of each year. Most other collections use enrolment data that are collected as part of the Mid Year Census in August.

• The number of LBOTE students enrolled in SSPs, is not broken down into SA4 groupings but is included in SA4 Groups Total.

• Primary support students are included in Year 3 to 6. Secondary support students are included in Year 7 to 10.

• Previous publications of the Statistical Bulletin compared enrolments in DoE regions. From 2014 these geographies have been discontinued and replaced with a geographical structure based on the new ABS Australian Statistical Geography Standard (ASGS). Groups of ASGS Statistical Area 4 (SA4) boundaries in New South Wales have been combined into 11 groups for reporting and publication of department data.
